Lisbon's 3rd Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride took place in City Hall Square on Saturday the 26th of June and was an oustanding success. More than ten thousand people and 6 NGOs (ILGA-Portugal, GTH, Safo, Opus Gay, Abraço and SOS-Racismo) participated in the festival. A joint document was read out at 11.30 pm stating the 15 demands of portuguese gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The Mayor of Lisbon also sent a special message in support of the event congratulating the gay and lesbian organizations for their courage and assuring the community that this City Hall will always be by their side.
Deborah Kristal, one of the most prominent drag-queens in Lisbon peformed a 30 minute show at around 1 am and at 1.30 am, Rob di Stefano, the world renowned DJ, from New York City, blew the ground off their feet. As special guest star, ILGA-Portugal, organizer of Lisbon Pride, presented at around 3 am, Celeda - the Diva-Queen from Chicago. The festival ended at around 7 am.
